Sauna use linked to longer life, fewer fatal heart problems

40% Decrease in All Cause Mortality with Frequent Sauna Use

There is a 40% decrease in ALL CAUSE MORTALITY for men who use the sauna 5–7 times per week. Says researchers from Finland published in JAMA Internal Medicine (2015) findings of a 20-year study that linked sauna use with a lower risk of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. The study involved 2,315 healthy men aged from 42 to 60 years.

Those who used a sauna 2 to 3 times per week were

22 percent less likely to get dementia 

20 percent less likely to get Alzheimer’s than than those who did not use a sauna.

66 percent less likely to get dementia 

65 percent less likely to get Alzheimer’s than those who used a sauna once a week.

The large Finnish study published showed that frequent sauna bathing (4-7 times a week) is associated with a 46% lower risk of developing hypertension compared to those who use saunas less than once a week. Furthermore, sauna use has been linked to a lower risk of cardiovascular events like heart attacks and strokes.
